Proof of Address Rejected by ANEF -

Why It Happens

ANEF commonly rejects proof of address if the document is too old, incomplete, unclear, or not officially accepted under prefecture rules. Most rejections are technical and can be corrected.

What Counts as Valid Proof of Address

Generally accepted:

  • Electricity or gas bill

  • Water bill

  • Internet bill

  • Official tax document

  • Rental contract (with supporting evidence)

Must usually be:

  • Dated within the last 3 months

  • Clearly show your full name

  • Show the full address

  • Uploaded as a complete PDF

Common Reasons for Rejection

1. Document Too Old

Anything older than 3 months may be refused.

2. Screenshot Instead of PDF

Screenshots are frequently rejected.

3. Name Mismatch

If the bill is in a partner’s name, additional documents are required.

4. Hosting Situation

If you live with someone, you usually need:

  • Their ID

  • A signed attestation

  • Their proof of address

Uploading only the bill is not enough.

5. Cropped or Partial Pages

Uploading page 1 but not page 2 can trigger rejection.

What To Do Now

  1. Confirm document date.

  2. Check that the name and address match your ANEF profile.

  3. If hosted, prepare the full hosting file.

  4. Re-upload as a clean, complete PDF.

Prevent a Second Refusal

Before re-uploading, verify:

  • Correct file format

  • Full document

  • Clear scan

  • Supporting documents included

Repeated rejections increase delays.
